Elder Power Up

For those of us living in the later years of our lives,  we are finding the world around us to be swirling, always in a constant state of change. It seems to be getting harder to hang on, next to impossible to keep up with the many changes. Yet, we have no choice, we can not look behind us. We must continue going down the road that is in front of us. Come on, we can do it!

What to expect

At this site, in our Power Up section, we will be posting information that is related to an older person's physical and mental health.  We will be looking at research findings that could positively impact health in these areas, focusing specifically on members of our maturing community. We will do the best we can to write the posts in an easy to read format.

In our Elder Fun sectionwe will be gathering information relating to how joy can be experienced more abundantly as we move into the later years of our lives.

Finally, in our Modern Psychology section, we will be looking at what leaders in this area of study are telling us, giving us their newly found information on how to grow old gracefully, being fueled with a new found passion, joyfully looking forward, anticipating the potentially glorious days ahead that are soon to become part of our newly formatted realities.

Posts on health, finding joy, looking at new areas of research done for the benefit of our nations older citizens. There will be a strong emphasis on what modern psychology can tell us about growing old gracefully, fueled with passion, and joyfully looking forward to aging positively.

Developing our minds and growing in self awareness allows us to relate better and more effectively to the other people in our lives. Growing in this way requires  that we upgrade our philosophy, enhancing the methodology we have been using for our personal growth.

Putting aside the outdated belief that, like a muscle; the brain gets weaker as it ages, research studies show us that just the opposite is true. We actually have the ability to become wiser as we age; able to examine our goals, check out whether we are committing to goals that are not congruent, goals that we're not even passionate about fulfilling or pursuing.
This is why some people end up in the 60s or the 70s or even the 80s, become aware that they spent a lifetime climbing a mountain only to reach the top and realize that they climbed the wrong one. With a heavy heart, reality hits, and they realize they are not where they actually wanted to be. The good news is this. At the latter stages of our lives, we can decide what we actually want? We can start climbing a different mountain.

In this section, we will present posts that will give us the strength and wisdom needed to climb even the steepest of mountains. Here is your walking stick, let's get started.

In this area, we will be posting light-hearted articles, jokes, special reports relating to the fun side of being older. Social media is full of text, video and spirit-lifting articles and we will filter through material in this area, filtering out and posting only the very best. Research articles and book reviews might show up here, but the underlying themes will revolve around how "drawing humor and fun-filled activities" out of an environment that is filled with sadness.
